Hours before Chris Brown was charged with making criminal threats against a woman that may have been Rihanna, the singer and his girlfriend were seen in pictures together at Clive Davis' pre-Grammy shindig, smiling and appearing playfully at ease with each other.

According to a number of sources (several of whom spoke to MTV News under the condition of anonymity), however, the couple was enduring a rough patch recently in their year-plus relationship — the pressure that the stars' high-profile status created began to take a toll, said those with knowledge of the couple's relationship. Rumors swirling around on blogs about the pair, including off-hand remarks about infidelity and fights, certainly didn't help matters.

The Los Angeles Times went where other news organizations would not: it identified pop singer Rihanna as Chris Brown's alleged assault victim:

R&B singer Chris Brown has been booked tonight on suspicion of making felony criminal threats in connection with an incident involving his girlfriend, pop singer Rihanna, according to Los Angeles Police Department sources familiar with the case.

"Who says we need journalism's old rules?" asked Jossip's David Hauslaib, referring to the journalistic convention of protecting victims' privacy by not printing their names.

Indeed, every other major publication referred to Brown's alleged victim as an unidentified woman, allowing readers to make their own conclusions that his girlfriend, Rihanna, was the victim of his alleged assault.

But the Los Angeles Times decided to run Rihanna's name — despite the LAPD's refusal to confirm her identity, citing state laws meant to protect abuse victims' privacy.

The story's author, LAT reporter Andrew Blankstein, told me by phone Monday that the public nature of the case made it "fair game" to report her name.

"The Times has a blanket policy when it comes to not naming victims of sexual assault," he said. "There isn't a set policy when it comes to physical assault or a criminal threat. In that case, there's a decision internally and on a case-by-case basis of whether to name somebody. In this case, obviously there was a discussion among the editors about this. The nature of this case — against the backdrop of the Grammy's, the delay in changing things, the explanations put out by both camps — the decision was made that this was fair game."

Blankstein's comments were reiterated by the newspaper's Readers' Rep, Jamie Gold.

"The Times chooses to follow an established, non-binding practice on sexual assault victims in which The Times does not identify them by name," she said in an e-mail. "But that is for sexual assault, which is not the case here."

CHICAGO — Ousted as Illinois governor and looking for a job, Rod Blagojevich returned to national television on Tuesday to proclaim his innocence on corruption charges _ perhaps angling for a future book deal or talk show.

But Blagojevich, a lawyer whose license is inactive, has some hurdles to overcome if he wants a new career. The biggest one: Who would hire him?

"A great many employers will not hire someone who has a felony charge pending against them," said Chicago defense attorney John Beal.

But some might offer him a job, if only to exploit the built-in publicity surrounding the scandal-tainted Democrat, especially as he gets closer to a trial on charges that could bring a lengthy prison term.

A federal indictment is expected by April on allegations that Blagojevich tried to auction off Barack Obama's vacant Senate seat. He was impeached by Illinois lawmakers, who stripped him of his job last week.

Blagojevich's publicist says offers are coming in, but he declined to provide details.

"Every day we get several offers of something he could do or would like to, and there are certainly no shortage of people who would love to speak with him," publicist Glenn Selig said.

Before the unanimous vote to remove Blagojevich, one Chicago radio show offered him a job if he would resign in the wake of his Dec. 9 arrest on federal corruption charges. He refused to step down.

The former governor needs find a way to make a living. Not only did he lose his $177,000-a-year job, but his wife recently was fired from her $100,000-a-year job as the chief fundraiser for a Chicago homeless agency.

Federal authorities claim she was caught on secretly recorded tapes making expletive-laden demands to fire Chicago Tribune writers critical of Blagojevich.

"It's a period of adjustment for us. But you know what, I'm not asking for any sympathy. There are tens of thousands of Americans who are losing their job every single day. I just happen to be among the ranks," Blagojevich told NBC's "Today Show."

Blagojevich's latest round of national TV interviews Tuesday in New York included stops at CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman," CNN's "Larry King Live" and Fox's "On the Record with Greta Van Susteren."

His publicist insists the appearances are not about finding the former governor a new job, but about clearing his name.

It won't be easy. Before Blagojevich's removal, Letterman listed the "Top Ten Ways Rod Blagojevich Can Improve His Image," which ended with, "Uhhh...resign?"

In his appearance on Letterman's show Tuesday, Blagojevich said he keeps thinking he'll wake up and people will realize "this is just one big misunderstanding."

Letterman joked that the more Blagojevich talked and repeated his claims of innocence, the more the host said to himself, "Oh, this guy is guilty." Blagojevich said he appreciated Letterman's position but also believed he had to defend himself and assert his innocence.

Citing three previous Illinois governors with corruption convictions, Letterman joked: "Is this just part of the oath of office that you guys take?" Blagojevich replied, "Unlike those, I'll be vindicated," to laughter in the audience.

On "Today," Blagojevich said he "unequivocally" never tried to profit from his power to appoint Obama's Senate replacement and was eager for his day in court.

"This is America, and I still believe this is a place where, as it's written in the Bible, the truth will set you free. I'm clinging to the truth and embracing the truth. I'll ride the truth, and I'll clear my name," he said.

Blagojevich has the chance to refashion himself. Others have done it, such as homemaking diva Martha Stewart, who served prison time for insider trading, and former President Bill Clinton, who survived impeachment for his affair with a White House intern.

"Americans love the rehabilitation of fallen heroes. You know, we just love that," said Eve Geroulis, a clinical professor at Chicago's Loyola University school of business who specializes in marketing.

But to make a successful comeback, a person has to acknowledge what got him into trouble in the first place and then do some sort of penance to make amends, said Northwestern University professor Irving Rein.

Blagojevich has not done that, insisting he's innocent of any criminal charges and that he will be cleared in the end.

"This is an awkward period, I don't see him being able to capitalize on it," Rein said.

A big comeback for Blagojevich will probably have to wait until the federal corruption case against him is resolved.

In addition to charges that he tried to personally benefit from his Senate appointment power, Blagojevich was accused of trying to strong-arm the Chicago Tribune into firing unfriendly editorial writers and of engaging in so-called "pay-to-play" politics in which state jobs or contracts are exchanged for campaign contributions.

If convicted, he could face a serious prison term. Conspiracy to commit fraud is punishable by up to 20 years and solicitation to commit bribery by as much as 10 more years. If he's hit with a racketeering charge, that could send him to prison for up to another 15 years, said Leonard Cavise, a law professor at Chicago's DePaul University.

Atmosphere: Very calm and relaxing downstairs in the bar area. Upstairs party room, bar, and large dinning space.
Service: Very slow and unresponsive at first. Sat for a long time without service, got up three times before a bartender came to the table. The Manager was the only one working for a tip.
Drinks: The first one was better than the second and i wish i'd tried more- had a mojito fresh with a clean finish. Small but good in quality beer selection. Large Saki and wine list.
Food Highlights: We tried one of each Happy Hour item. The Kobe on cornmeal biscuit with black bean spread was difficult to eat but worth the effort it has a kick on the after taste. The edamames are slightly charred which gives them an awesome roasted taste. The seared Mahi-Mahi fish tacos in a wanton shell with red cabbage on a bed of guacamole are worth a try. The Crab-guacamole dip is not worth a try.

Micheal Phelps Apologizes to Bong for Hitting it So Hard

BALTIMORE -- In a shocking admission of guilt, Michael Phelps, 14-time gold medalist and star of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, released a statement through his agent yesterday in which he admitted to and apologized for his criminal behavior. The confession came after a photograph emerged in British tabloids on Saturday, revealing the young swimmer frozen in an Olympian bong-hit at a Greek party:

"I want to apologize to friends, family, and my sponsors for my inappropriate conduct. I truly regret my poor judgment, and I hope that my supporters will give me another chance. I promise to be more aware of my strength, and I promise to exercise restraint in the future. But, most of all, I want to apologize to that bong. I'm an Olympic athlete, and I put my 'all' into everything, even bong hits. I swim hard, and I puff hard, that's just how I am."

The news of the Olympic swimmer's assault capped a remarkable weekend in sports. On Saturday, Raphael Nadal clinched the Australian Open title from Roger Federer in a memorable, hard-fought, five-set thriller, postponing the Swiss tennis star's attempt to tie Pete Sampras's record of 14 Grand Slams. On Sunday, the Pittsburgh Steelers one-upped the Spanish phenom by winning Super Bowl XLII in dramatic fashion over the Arizona Cardinals by way of a dazzling touchdown pass with less than a minute remaining in regulation.

Considering the magnitude of these impressive athletic achievements, few in the media believed that either could be topped. But of course, Michael Phelps, a notorious over-achiever, was up to the challenge and has yet again proved the skeptics wrong. With his historic performance at the bong, Phelps surpassed them all and was named 'the Gold Medal Winner of Bong Hits' by the same British tabloid that broke the news of his now famous toke.

The occasion is certainly a historic one. Few could have imagined that New York Giant Plaxico Burress's memorable midseason self-shooting, itself an awe-inspiring event, would be duplicated and improved upon by another famous athlete so quickly. Perhaps even more impressive is the fact that, less than a day after his initial statement, the Baltimore Bullet expressed to the A.P. his desire to turn his widely publicized apology into an opportunity--into the means by which he might bring attention to some important issues he feels are often ignored by the general public.

Remaining characteristically modest, the decorated athlete articulated his eagerness to bring recognition to those who consistently give of themselves and spend their lives in service, "We should really be congratulating the bong. I really hit that thing hard, and it responded," Mr. Phelps said in subsequent statements. "This has been great publicity for [bongs]. For so long, they've taken a backseat to doobies, pipes, and the many other devices used to smoke weed; unfairly, they've never gotten the recognition they deserve."

The swimmer's agent went on to express his client's ardent belief that most bongs are hindered by low standards and cultural restrictions, and as a result, aim lower than they should. They generally end up in squalor, caked in Cheeto Cheese, living on coffee tables in poorly lit apartments under the ownership of fat white guys with names like Doozer, he said. But Phelps hopes that the attention he has helped bring them might make a difference for a new generation of young pipes: "Every once in a while, a bong dares to dream bigger, hoping to make it onto an international stage. Today, this dream has come true, and we're all so glad that Michael could help to make a difference," his agent said.

The United States Olympic Committee President, Peter Ueberroth, was one of many notable figures to react to the superstar's comments with a sense of admiration. The USOC President conveyed his high regard for the mature way in which the young swimmer admitted the shortcomings of his over-zealous treatment of the bong and is now trying to let his true, altruistic intentions shine through, "You know, it's just amazing. When I first saw the picture of Michael hitting that bong, I wasn't sure that this was the right choice - for him or us - but now that I see the universal benefit of what Michael has done...it's hard to think otherwise. Really hard," he said contemplatively, before finishing, "And what's more? The bong will soon be more famous than I am. That sure is one lucky bong!"

Many have inquired as to what happened to the bong after its assault by the gold medalist. Though the bong could not be reached for comment, according to inside sources, the student who owned the bong has already sold it secretly on eBay for a hefty sum and has since dropped out of college. Phelps and his agents are currently in the process of trying to recover the bong from the anonymous buyer.

When asked to comment, Phelps smiled and said that it was just another example of the potentially positive consequences of his actions. "Some lucky kid has already entered early retirement," he said. He then added that he has already received countless text messages from college students congratulating him and informing him that they had renamed their bongs after him. "My favorite was sent by this guy from the University of Mexico. He named his bong 'Miguel Phelps.' That's my name in Spanish..." he said, wiping away a tear.

Of course, there are those in the U.S. that see storm clouds on the horizon for Phelps. Some of Michael's close friends worry that his behavior will not be looked upon favorably by the American public: "His mom is going to be so pissed," said Trent Albert, Phelps's tutor at the University of Michigan during his sophomore year. "And beyond that I'm worried about how history will remember him. Is there a Swimming Hall of Fame? No? Oh, there is? Well, I'm not sure if marijuana is considered a performance-enhancing drug or not, but I would hate to see Michael's name have an asterisk next to it in the record books because of his bong attack."

The world may simply not be ready for the kind of charity Michael Phelps has displayed in the last week. Unfortunately, there are many stigma still attached to marijuana and the bongs it fills, so there's no telling how the world will react to the Olympian's vicious bong hits and subsequent apology. No good deed goes unpunished. But we can all rest assured that no matter what the young swimmer goes on to accomplish in the next few years, there's no doubt that it will be pure gold.

(CNN) -- Super Bowl fans in Tucson, Arizona, caught a different kind of show during Sunday's big game.

Just as Cardinals' superstar Larry Fitzgerald watched himself sprint into the end zone on the stadium's Jumbotron during Sunday's Super Bowl, 10 seconds of eye-popping pornographic imagery "flashed" across the screens of those watching at home.

"We are mortified by last evening's Super Bowl interruption, and deeply apologize to our customers for the inappropriate programming," Comcast Cable said in a written statement.

"Our initial investigation suggests this was an isolated malicious act," the statement added.

Comcast, and several local television stations that carried the signal, say they are currently investigating what caused the interruption.

"It appears this material was only viewed by some Comcast customers," local Tucson television station KVOA-TV said in a written statement.

Television station KVOA added "when the NBC feed of the Super Bowl was transmitted from KVOA to local cable providers and through over-the-air antennas, there was no pornographic material," KVOA President and General Manager Gary Nielsen said in a separate statement.
