Anthony Weiner is Winning

?
Howdy

This morning on NBC's Today Anthony Weiner was interviewed by Savannah Guthrie. Today, the day not the show, is the last day of campaigning in New York as the Mayoral election is set to begin tomorrow morning at 7 am.  Anthony Weiner is currently forth in the polls which no doubt is linked to his controversial  sexting acts. Weiner was caught sexting once while holding office as US Congressman (he resigned in June 2011). Once in February 2013, though allegations did not surface until during his recent mayoral campaign.

So the interview...Weiner's interview with Savannah has caught him a lot of heat...but Weiner can handle heat. Weiner shoots back at Savannah's constant questioning about his wife, Huma Abedin, former Deputy Chief of Staff to Hilary Clinton during her 2008 campaign. Critics are saying that Weiner was to aggressive with Savannah, and to dismissive of his wife's role in his life and the campaign...watch

Okay..so I am a scholar of Political Science and that, will always be the lens in which I view all things political. With that out there, I'm clapping it out to Anthony Weiner. A. Its never easy to take the obvious shame of being caught in the act...but imagine having that blasted EVERYWHERE! every time you turn on the TV, every time you open your laptop or check your newsfeed on your phone, every time you walk by the newsstand, or you get the point. B. As a politician Anthony said everything right. His mind is on tomorrow, he is focused on his constituents. He wants to talk about the issues. He is doing his best, being on the spot and his best is pretty damn good. C. I don't care who its, a man, or woman has the right to defend their wife. Yesterday, Sunday, September 9, on Meet the Press Savannah asked Anthony seven (7) questions about Huma. Today on Today, she asked three (3)   Really. I would get pissed to. Move on Savannah. I think your work is great, but you beat a dead horse.
In the devil's defense, Huma Abedin wouldn't have a Wikipedia page had it not been for the negative attention Anthony has brought to her. And that sucks...but hey look at Hilary.

Pie 'n' Thighs: Williamsburg/Brooklyn, NY

?

Driggs and S 4th street Williamsburg/Brooklyn
“Do you know a place we can get dessert this late around here?”
“Uhh no, oh well there is that place really close to here, up on the corner”
And thus I am directed to an awesome comfort food spot in Williamsburg/Brooklyn
Pies ‘n’ Thighs on 166 S.4th Street (@Driggs) Brooklyn NY 11211is small, almost tiny but the food packs a huge punch. The menu is equally small, featuring (guess) Fried Chicken, Fried CatFish, Burgers, BBQ pork and Brisket and a handful of sides and of course pies. I have a saying “if you fry it, I will come and try it” folks if you like fried chicken you must try this place. If you don’t, then don’t go out of your way. Crispy, traditional thick southern style batter covers the chicken and the fish, both served in a box with a huge homemade biscuit   If you are a vegetarian, like my guest, you are stuck with the “sides” menu (or a grilled cheese). We ordered Mac n Cheese, Spicy Black Eyed Peas Salad, Grits, Iceberg Lettuce salad. I would have tried the fried pickles but they were not available.  Everything was served QUICK, like so quick I wasn’t sure that if the waiter had given us another table's order. Everything was to point, even the grits and it takes a lot for a “southern” to approve of a “yankee’s grits.” The spicy black eyed peas were served al dente and went well with the creamy mac n cheese, and the iceburg lettuce was pretty typical (we asked for the salad without the bacon) Pies ‘n’ Thighs says all of their meats are naturally raised, though I’ve heard from others that their chicken biscuit is equally to a frozen pattie you can buy at a grocery store.  I’ve also heard that on a nice day, the line and wait can be out the door.Remember this place is tiny, I recommend carry out.
OH MY I’m forgetting about the Pie! We tried a traditional sour cherry pie. It wasn’t bad, it wasn’t great and the portion size was tiny (there is a trend) for its larger than life price of $4.50. Still where else are you going to find something sweet, something to drink and something filling that close to the Williamsburg bridge? (poss Checkers) Nowhere. Pies ‘n’ Thighs is more than worth it, check it out.

Bill Maher's New Rule Health Care

New Rule: You Can't Complain About

Health Care Reform If You're Not Willing

to Reform Your Own Health

New Rule: You can't complain about health care reform if you're not willing to reform your own health. Unlike most liberals, I'm glad all those teabaggers marched on Washington last week. Because judging from the photos, it's the first exercise they've gotten in years. Not counting, of course, all the Rascal scooters there, most of which aren't even for the disabled. They're just Americans who turned 60 and said, "Screw it, I'm done walking." These people are furious at the high cost of health care, so they blame illegals, who don't even get health care. News flash, Glenn Beck fans: the reason health care is so expensive is because you're all so unhealthy.

Yes, it was fun this week to watch the teabaggers complain how the media underestimated the size of their march, "How can you say there were only 60,000 of us? We filled the entire mall!" Yes, because you're fat. One whale fills the tank at Sea World, that doesn't make it a crowd.

President Obama has identified all the problems with the health care system, but there's one tiny issue he refuses to tackle, and that's our actual health.

And since Americans can only be prodded into doing something with money, we need to tax crappy foods that make us sick like we do with cigarettes, and alcohol -- and alcohol actually serves a useful function in society in that it enables unattractive people to get laid, which is more than you can say for Skittles.

I'm not saying tax all soda, but certainly any single serving of soda larger than a baby is not unreasonable. If you don't know whether you burp it or it burps you, that's too big. We need to make taking care of ourselves an issue of patriotism. If you were someone who condemned Bush for not asking Americans to sacrifice for the war on terror, the same must be said for Obama and health care.

President Arugula is not gonna tell Americans they're fat and lazy. No sin tax on food on Obama's watch. And at a time when it's important to set new standards for personal responsibility, he appointed a surgeon general, who is, I'm sorry, kind of fat. Certainly too heavy to be a surgeon general, it's a role model thing. It would be like appointing a Secretary of the Treasury who didn't pay his taxes. He did?

And get this: Surgeon General Benjamin had previously been a nutritional advisor to Burger King. The only advice a "health expert" should give Burger King is to stop selling food. The "nutritional advisor" job was described as, "promoting balanced diets and active lifestyle choices" -- and who better to do that than the folks who hand you meat and corn syrup through a car window? When you have a surgeon general who comes from Burger King, it's a message to lobbyists, and that message is, "Have it your way."
