Unfortunately due to a medical emergency, we are terribly sorry to have to reschedule the last four dates for Vanessa's Oct run starting with the Birchmere show tomorrow, October 17th and including the Charlotte, Nashville and Atlanta shows. The November tour is unchanged. Please be assured that Vanessa is fine but the nature of the issue is such that it needs to be tended to immediately.

Changing show dates is an incredibly big deal to us and we want to apologize sincerely for any inconvenience. Tickets will be honored at the new dates (once we re-schedule them) but if you feel you would prefer a refund, please seek that at the ticket point of purchase.

and this weekend in DC Region and Atlanta

?

Hi guys,
I thought about doing a video blog last night just to discuss the video below Collateral Murder but I felt that inappropriate. To lighten the mood i'd like to share some awesome things going on in the metro region this weekend.

The Annual Beer and Bourbon and BBQ Festival
I went last year and had a blast!

i
Tickets are available at the door for $40.  The general admissions portion of the festival begins at 2pm and ends at 6 pm. All you can "sample" beer and bourbon excellent BBQ and good music. This year the BBBBQ is expecting 60 different brews and 40 different types of bourbon. Think kid in a candy shop.
The festival takes place at Timoniun Fairgrounds. There is a free shuttle from Baltimore's Light Rail. I do not recommend buzz driving or drinking and driving. The constant 1/2 shots of bourbon are easily under estimated but beware they will sneak up on you.
Unfortunately advanced tickets are sold out, get there early to secure general admission.

Well at least we are number one at something--Atlanta Named Most Toxic U.S. City,

?

Las Vegas has far from a clean reputation, but in Forbes' list of America's Most Toxic Cities, Las Vegas is named the least toxic of 40 major metropolitan areas.

Forbes ranked the cities based on the number of Superfund sites in the principal city, number of facilities that release toxic chemicals, amount of toxic chemicals released in the area and air quality ranking.

Following Las Vegas as the top 10 least toxic cities are Sacramento, Riverside, Austin, Seattle, San Diego, Virginia Beach, San Jose, New York and Phoenix.

Surprised to see a major city like New York in the top ten cleanest? Forbes explains:

Crowded urban areas are often thought of as the most polluted, but the latter isn't always caused by the former. While the Atlanta metro area takes top honors for toxicity, don't blame the city alone. The Atlanta metro includes the cities of Sandy Springs and Marietta, the sites of chemical plants, metal coaters and concrete factories. The cities have toxic-release levels equal at or higher than those Atlanta, in spite of populations that are 15% and 13% the size of Atlanta's, respectively.

The title of most toxic city goes to Atlanta, followed by Detroit, Houston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Jacksonville, Baltimore and Portland.

In some cases it's not the main city itself that is to blame for poor air or dirty water. As Forbes explains, much of the pollution for some cities comes from factories and plants in surrounding areas.

"...while the Philadelphia metro area is our fourth most toxic area, the City of Brotherly Love doesn't hold the bulk of the blame for the pollution. Factories in smaller Wilmington, Del., in the same metro area, reported releasing 57% more pounds of toxins than Philadelphia in 2007. Wilmington houses a Pepsi bottler and General Motors assembly plant, as well as the headquarters of chemical company Dupont."
The most toxic cities:
1. Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta
2. Detroit-Warren-Livonia
3. Chicago-Naperville-Joliet
4. Houston-Sugar Land-Baytown
5. Philadelphia-Camden-Wilmington
6. Cleveland-Elyria-Mentor
7. Los Angeles-Long Beach-Santa Ana
8. Jacksonville
9. Baltimore-Towson
10. Portland-Vancouver-Beaverton

The least toxic cities:
1. Las Vegas-Paradise
2. Sacramento--Arden-Arcade--Roseville
3. Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario
4. Austin-Round Rock
5. Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue
6. San Diego-Carlsbad-San Marcos
7. Virginia Beach-Norfolk-Newport News
8. San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara
9. New York-Northern New Jersey-Long Island
10. Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale

LAST NIGHT

I didn't even get an answer!, i tried to call, but you probably let me down"
I love that long, don't like diddy so much, but like that song.

Ok so Props to the Lunar eclipse last night, (a full moon was blocked from the sun, because of the earths shadow) we (on the western hemisphere) get another one in 2010.

Last two nights went out for my Best friends Birthday, pictures are soon to come, sTs i hope you enjoyed.

Lessons learned:
1. Never give a drunk person your keys for any reason, i don't care if he or she claims to have a carton of cigs in the car, or a screaming baby: JUST SAY NO.

2. Young Couples that are cool and non possessive about each other and don't care who they dance with Kick ass.

3. Everyone thinks i'm a guy, and i don't know if i like that.

4. The hip-hop room at MJQ smells like balls, gross sweaty balls.

5. The girl at the coat check at MJQ looks like a super cool kick.....but i think i was to drunk, and i'm sure she didn't hear me say that (so if anyone knows her tell to sign on to LaChabenn.com!)

Is the South Dying?

I moved to a small town way outside of Atlanta ten years ago, from a large town just outside of D.C.. I remember my first two words in "Southern" were "Sir" and "Ma'am." i waved to everyone i passed, and it didn't matter if i knew them or not. After the first time we waved a relationship was forged. I left my small town after high school, and moved to a larger, more southern valley town. Large enough in number, but small in size, everyone was connected to everyone by two degrees. The two times i was caught BWI (biking while intoxicated) the officers already knew me by name.

So it was a bit of a shock to me when i moved back to the D.C., and found that when you wave to someone, you might get shot, or at least, you will get a dirty look. SO i kept my hand down, and my head up right, eyes straight ahead the entire year i spent around the bay.

When I got back to the south, i was ready and egger to get back in to the swing of things: the "yes sirs," "yes ma'ams," the random conversations at the market, in the elevator, the wave and the smile to Whoever makes eye contact with you. Instead i was met with a different greeting, for instance my gf comes to town for a week and her car gets broken into, my bag, my camera, my cds all stolen GONE. I expect that shit in B-more, heck D.C even, but not the Atl. Two nights later some of our friends get a DUI, but honestly were sober enough to talk, walk and drive. My favorite store gets robbed the DAY i bought my new flip flops from them I go to wave to people now, but they look away before i can get my hand up! And every time i turn on the local news i get to hear the glorious (that was for you sTs) story of how some f$#^k killed an old lady, or molested a child. Honestly, what happened to southern hospitality? Is the Southern way of living fading? Have the Yankee impostors taken over?
That is one thing about atlanta i've always noticed, no one is actually From atlanta, most are yanks who came down for cheaper living, or job relocations. So maybe that is it. Maybe it is the stress of todays economy on the average American, maybe its the election, maybe i'm just making BS excuses.

If the south is dying, then that is left, America as we know will never be the same
without Southern Hospitality.
